Hindi AI Video: Diwali Greetings and Explainer Translation

I made Hindi AI videos with Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash: a Devanagari Diwali greeting and a one-call Hindi translation of an explainer. Prompts and costs.

Hindi AI Video: Diwali Greetings and Explainer Translation | Segmind

Searches for Hindi AI video have taken off in India, and most video models still mangle Devanagari: broken matras, wrong conjuncts, random English. For brands and creators publishing in Hindi, that has been a hard blocker.

So I tested Google's Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash on Segmind on two Hindi jobs: a Diwali greeting with Devanagari written on screen from a text prompt, and a one-call translation of a finished English explainer into Hindi. Both are below with the exact prompts and costs.

The Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash series

  • AI chart animation for data videos (coming 10 Nov)
  • Hindi AI video: Diwali greetings and translation (you are here)

1. A Diwali greeting with Devanagari written stroke by stroke

Prompt usedVertical festive kinetic-typography greeting, deep indigo background with soft golden bokeh. Hand-lettered golden Devanagari text 'शुभ दीपावली' writes itself on stroke by stroke in the centre, as if drawn with a glowing gold pen, then gently glows. Small lit clay diyas rise into a neat row beneath the words one by one, each flame flickering on. Marigold petals drift down slowly. Below the diyas, a line of smaller cream English text fades in: 'Wishing you light, warmth and good coffee.' and at the very bottom, small cream serif capitals: 'KAAPI THEORY'. Slow push-in, warm and elegant. Audio: a soft temple bell, a gentle santoor melody, faint distant fireworks. The Devanagari must be spelled exactly 'शुभ दीपावली', all text crisp and readable, no other text.

ParametersAPI: text-to-video  |  aspect_ratio: 9:16  |  resolution: 720p  |  duration: 8  |  seed: 7803  |  cost: $0.60  |  time: 41 s

Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash Hindi AI video: 'शुभ दीपावली' written on stroke by stroke. KAAPI THEORY is a fictional brand.

'शुभ दीपावली' wrote itself on stroke by stroke and was spelled correctly. The diyas lit one by one, and the English line and brand landed last, in order. The brand name came out small and slightly stylised, so check it at full size. For agencies making festive greetings in regional languages, this one result is worth the integration: 60 cents and 41 seconds, with sound.

2. Translating a finished explainer into Hindi in one call

I took an English claymation explainer I had generated (how I made it) and sent it to video-edit with a mapping of every label to Devanagari, plus the full Hindi narration.

Source
English explainer

Prompt usedLocalise this explainer into Hindi. Replace every clay text label with the same clay lettering in Hindi (Devanagari), in the same positions, sizes and colours: 'HOW THE MONSOON WORKS' becomes 'मानसून कैसे काम करता है', 'ARABIAN SEA' becomes 'अरब सागर', 'BAY OF BENGAL' becomes 'बंगाल की खाड़ी', 'THAR DESERT' becomes 'थार मरुस्थल', 'SW MONSOON WINDS' becomes 'दक्षिण-पश्चिम मानसूनी हवाएँ'. Replace the narration with the same warm narrator speaking Hindi: 'हर गर्मी में, ज़मीन समुद्र से जल्दी गर्म होती है। दक्षिण-पश्चिम से नम हवाएँ आती हैं, और जब वे पश्चिमी घाट से टकराती हैं, तो बारिश शुरू हो जाती है।' Keep the clay map, characters, animation, timing, camera move, music and sound effects exactly the same. All Devanagari text must be spelled correctly and clearly readable.

ParametersAPI: video-edit  |  video: the English explainer  |  resolution: 720p  |  cost: $1.00  |  time: 136 s

Hindi localisation edit: title and three of four labels in clay Devanagari, timing kept frame for frame.

The title and three of four labels came back in correct clay Devanagari, in the same places, with timing matched frame for frame. The wind-arrow label stayed in English and there was one stray letter. It was also my slowest and priciest call. I checked the frames visually but have not yet reviewed the Hindi narration by ear, so listen before you ship.

Even with one miss, translating a finished explainer in a single call is a big deal for MCNs, edtech and news teams publishing in several languages. A quick re-roll or a second edit for the missed label gets you the rest of the way.

My rules for Hindi AI video

  • Put the exact Devanagari in quotes, then repeat it at the end: "The Devanagari must be spelled exactly 'शुभ दीपावली'".
  • For localisation, map every label explicitly: "'ARABIAN SEA' becomes 'अरब सागर'". Do not just say "translate to Hindi".
  • Write the full narration in Hindi in the prompt rather than asking the model to translate it.
  • Expect one miss in a multi-label edit and check every text element frame by frame.
  • Describe the reveal: "writes itself on stroke by stroke", "diyas rise one by one". Omni follows ordered beats well.

For greetings from scratch, use text-to-video. For translating existing clips, use video-edit (source up to 15 seconds).

FAQ

Can AI generate Hindi text in video correctly?

Yes. Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash rendered quoted Devanagari correctly in my tests, including a stroke-by-stroke write-on of 'शुभ दीपावली'.

Can AI translate a video into Hindi?

Yes. One video-edit call replaced the title and three of four labels with correct Devanagari and kept the timing. One label stayed in English, so check every text element.

How much does a Hindi AI video cost?

My 8-second 720p Diwali greeting cost $0.60. The 12-second Hindi translation edit cost $1.00.

Can I make Diwali greeting videos with AI for my brand?

Yes. Describe the greeting, the reveal order and your brand line in quotes. Keep the brand name large enough to read on a phone.
